The Barka come from the area of western Eritrea in Ethiopia and belong to the North
Sudan Zebu group. They are one of the four major breeds found in Ethiopia. Used primarily
for milk and meat production, the breed is usually white with black spots or splashes.
Occasionally red or colorsided individuals will be seen. The breed is usually horned
although polled individuals are occasionally seen.
