Also Known By: Mimoseano, Poconeano, Pantaneiro Criollo
The Pantaneiro is found in northern Mato Grosso in Brazil. The normal distribution
of colors within this breed is 45% gray, 17% bay, 13% black and white, 10% brown.
The breed is well adapted to the temporary flood conditions that are found in the
Pantanal region. The Pantaneiro is reported to be resistant to Equine Infectious Anemia.
This resistance has made them the preferable mount in the swampy areas of their native
region.
