Found in northwestern Xinjiang region of China, the Yili is a light riding and driving
horse also used for meat and milk production. The Yili is of the Mongolian type and
is usually chestnut, brown or black. They have originated since 1900 from Russian
breeds crossing with the native Molgolian stock.
